Boat Ramps Near Me ("we") runs a directory of boat ramps and nearby services. This page explains what we collect, why, and your choices. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we don't sell your data, and most of the site works without giving us anything.
What we collect
- Email address — only if you sign up for ramp updates. Used to send you the updates you asked for, nothing else.
- Reviews & water reports — the display name, optional email, and text you submit. Your email is never shown publicly.
- Location submissions — the name, GPS coordinates, and notes you send when adding a spot.
- Anti-spam signal — when you submit a form we store a one-way hashed version of your IP address (via Cloudflare Turnstile) to stop bots and abuse. We can't reverse it to identify you.
- Anonymous usage stats — we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and doesn't fingerprint or track you across sites. It tells us aggregate page views, not who you are.
What we don't do
We don't sell your personal data. We don't run cross-site tracking cookies of our own. You can browse every ramp, state, and category page without submitting anything.
Third parties
- OpenStreetMap — our ramp and place data comes from the OSM community (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL).
- Cloudflare — hosts the site and provides the anti-spam and cookie-free analytics above.
- Maps & directions — "Get directions" links open Google Maps or Apple Maps; their privacy policies apply once you leave our site.
- Affiliate partners — some outbound links (hotel, charter, and boat-rental buttons) are affiliate links; if you book, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. See our Terms.
- Advertising — if we add display ads in the future (e.g. Google AdSense), those partners may set their own cookies; we'll update this page and add controls before that goes live.
Your choices
Unsubscribe from emails anytime via the link in any email. To see, correct, or delete anything you've submitted, email BoatRamps@proton.me and we'll take care of it.
Kids
This site isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
